~Life Goes On~

We have been holding our own here at the Carroll Household! I have a job, started in September, as the Asst. Store Manager at Heritage 1981 at the 12 Oaks Mall.

Mike is working hard, as always, keeping things together here at home, he is an awesome man and I am so proud of him! So much love and joy in him, it makes me smile!
Brandon is working with the MORC Stars this year for hockey. Coach Peter is working him hard in drills and such getting the team ready for the SHI Tournament in Toronto this year. Brandon misses his teammates from the Michigan FAR Flyers but will see them in Toronto!
Both kids are doing well in school, all A's on their last report card! Michaella is a little reading machine, she loves it! We are taking a break from skating this year and trying to save a little money, but look forward to signing up again in the Fall.
Mike and I have recently started a new business with the TEAM and working with his sister Barb and husband Jim. We are very excited about it and have begun to dream again!

What is in the Detroit River These Days?

A funny thing happened to my dad (Glenn Pelkey) the other day. While fishing with his buddies on the Detroit River, one of them happened to lay into this massive fish! It took 1 hour 20 minutes to reel it in and it was caught on 8 lbs. test line! It was a Sturgeon, and unfortunately, they are not in season at this time of the year, so they had to release it. Bummer! At least they had a camera phone to take pics with! The back was like armor, my dad said. Not too often that you see a monster fish like this!

Kelsey's Angel Garden

March 10th, the day I started this website, my first post, little did I know what that day would bring for the Caswell family. Roger Caswell, a close friend of our family, lost one of the two bright lights of his life. He had been blessed with twins, Kasey and Kelsey, who were a few short days from turning 8 1/2 years old. While Roger drove his mom home, the girls were driven home by their mother when she lost control of the vehicle and slid into a utility pole. Kelsey was in the front seat and didn't survive the accident. Kasey suffered some injuries which she recovered from. Kasey and her dad wanted to plant an angel garden in Kelsey's memory. April 26th, family and friends gathered together at Roger and Kasey's house to plant the flowers and arrange the angel statues that had been given at the time of the funeral. Kasey, Michaella, Brandon, Mary (Ruth and Roger's mom and my sorta adopted mom) and I put together some stepping stones to put in the garden with things that reminded us of Kelsey and things she loved. The garden turned out beautiful, no matter where you look, you see an angel. Afterwards, we all wrote notes to Kelsey and tied them to balloons which Roger and Kasey released. We love you Kelsey and miss you!

Road Trip!

Brandon just played in the Special Hockey International Tournament in Toronto, ON this past weekend. After loosing his first game to the North Bay North Stars on Thursday, the Michigan FAR Flyers came back and won the rest of their games. On Friday they played against Cambridge Ice Hounds and the hosting team, North York Gladiators, then on Saturday, an early game against Colorado Golden Eagles. On Saturday we spent the rest of the day at the Ontario Science Museum, they had a great hands on section where Michaella and I made her a shoe out of cardboard and fabric and Brandon had a blast ripping circuit boards and typewriters apart and building a city out of their parts. The evening ended with the awards banquet and a loooong drive back to Michigan. We met a lot of new friends there and visited with old ones too! Here are some pics of the events!

Here I am, I finally have joined the ranks of those bloggers. Just wanted to have a site to keep in touch with my family, friends and customers both here and afar.

That is about it for now.

Will sign on soon with updates and maybe some more pics, until then enjoy our favorite one of the kids from summer a few years back. This so captures the essence of their personalities and relationship.
